The buyer is seeking an independent audit firm to conduct a financial and compliance audit of its financial statements and prepare the annual audit report. The audit must be conducted in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards and Government Auditing Standards. The contract will be for an initial 3-year period starting with the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. The auditor will be required to complete interim and year-end fieldwork, submit the audit report by October 31, and present to the Board of Commissioners.

• Independent auditor with governmental accounting and auditing experience
• Registered with North Carolina State Board of CPA Examiners
• Meets peer review and continuing education requirements of Government Auditing Standards

• Conduct financial and compliance audit of county financial statements
• Prepare audit report including basic financial statements and compliance reports
• Perform interim audit work prior to June 30
• Submit audit report to Local Government Commission by October 31
• Present financial statements to Board of Commissioners
• Prepare management letter with recommendations
• Provide guidance on new accounting standards and reporting requirements
• Prepare government-wide year-end adjusting journal entries
• Update MD&A data tables
• Conduct audit in accordance with GAAS and Government Auditing Standards
